Jo Dalsgaard
Narrative Game Designer
Hi! I'm Jo, and I design narrative systems and content for games. I strive to develop deeply human experiences, and tell stories that haven’t been told before. I’m a trans woman based in Copenhagen, where I study Game and Interaction Design at the Royal Danish Academy.

My biggest strength is communicating openly and honestly, and engaging people empathetically. I’m often told I’m an excellent collaborator, good at translating different perspectives, not afraid to speak up in a group, and always making sure everyone is heard. I’m told this also comes through in my narrative work - language is my medium, whether in conversation or in writing, and I strive to tell stories with honesty and empathy that make people feel seen.
I’m especially engaged with projects when they strive to have a social impact, to help players reflect on their actions, center the perspectives of marginalized people, or explore new modes of being. I think games can give people tools to listen, ask questions and express themselves. I’m especially passionate and knowledgeable about trans and queer perspectives.

I have a background in art and poetry. I design art games and physical experiences as part of Kosmologym, a transnational art and game design collective, and I'm affiliated with New York-based Flux Factory, having participated in their residency at ARoS in 2021 and 2022. I also have extensive experience teaching and facilitating workshops.

In my free time I love playing tabletop roleplaying games and board games with my friends. I love to read and dig deep into research on nerdy topics, especially related to history and religion, and find interesting details I can bring into my work. I also love to go dancing all night, and have long conversations with new people.
